My art is the energy by which my life experiences with people and places have created tangible results in a meaningful positive outlet expresses on papers and canvas. I am comfortable in all forms of mediums. However; my watercolor technique has proven to be fruitful in the past two years towards my artist career in Vero Beach.
My formal training in art began as a small child taking a few art lessons and enjoying every art class public schooling had to offer. I then studied art in community college and continued my education for another year and a half at the Art Institute of Atlanta, majoring in Interior Design/Visual Communications.
Traveling down a path that I only thought I might travel with creating art; I created a design for Principle Dillon at Rosewood Magnet for their 50 year celebration. It was used for Friday T-shirts and the school’s yearbook cover. My commission fee was donated back to the art department at Rosewood for art supplies.
Beth Eriksen, publisher, of Florida Parenting caught wind of the design and donation. After Beth understood that my turtle design was accepted for Turtle Trax she publicly recognized the Rosewood design in the February cover followed with an article.
These events gave me the confidence to enter the Cultural Council Design Cover Contest. I entered just to keep my hand and mind fresh with challenge. I again was surprised; as well as; honored with the placement of my design. The event Planner helps support the Cultural Council of Indian River which supports our community in so many important ways. I now was given the courage to begin selling my artwork for a greater good.
Soon, I was invited to hang my work at ArtsMojo; where gallery owner Kristen Kudsen; had a benefit in my honor to help raise monies for the Cultural Council. In planning that event I knew it was important for my soul to continuously give back with the gift of art. I currently am committed to donating 20% of the profits back to the Cultural Council in order to say thank you in helping Indian River continue to grow in a positive manner so it may have more funding to blossom full with giving and sharing in the arts and culture.
